Tre Bambini in Lynbrook is romantic. Its on Sunrise Highway. A small intimate place, just dark enough to be romantic, but not that you can't see what you are eating! THe waiters wear tuxs..the food is excellent!

Definitely take him to either the Palm Court at the Carltun in Eisenhower Park or the Wine Cellar at the Carltun. The food is fantastic! i think the Wine Cellar is a little more intimate--only around 20 tables, softly lit, and surrounded by a glass case with thousands of wine bottles. I believe they have a prix fixe menu 1 day a week and it's well worth it--you get each course paired with a different wine. Another good place is Citrus in Albertson or maybe it's Williston Park? It's on Willis Avenue between Jericho and the LIE. It's an asian fusion place. West End Cafe in Carle Place in the Kids R' Us shopping center is great too .Don't be put off by its location, it's actually really nice inside. Hope this helps!

One of the nicest restaurants on the island is the Mill River Inn - I believe zagat rates this as the best restaurant on LI for a while now. The food is very good here - it is a rather small restaurant but great if you are celebrating something and want a quiet romantic meal. Make ressies
The same applies to to L'Endroit - this place has been around for as long as I can remember and (we ate there night we got engaged) Make ressies - I think the food is very good -
I would also recommend: West End Cafe - if you order before 6pm they have a great price fixed meal (about $25 - zagat gives it high marks)- app, entree, dessert and coffee - ask for a back corner table on the banquet) you will need ressies if you want to eat there on the weekend they fill up every week so they almost never take walk ins. The food is basically the same later too.
Cool fish - they also have a price fixed as well order I think before 630 pm - about $25 - I would make ressies - I always do when we eat there - but I would ask if they are having a party that night - if so nix this place as it can get quite loud - but perfect when there aren't having a party.
(both west end and cool fish you can go anytime just that many enjoy the price fixed so I figured I would mention it since it is a good deal for a nice meal)
