I am looking for a very good romantic restaurant to take my DH too. Any suggestions?

Re: Romantic Restaurant on LI
I like pasta pasta in Port Jeff, I will call it casual romantic. Its not dressy but its very dimly lit and hte food is good! My favorite is La Strada in Happauge (I think) Its on wheeler road. They are so amazingly nice, have wonderful food and a great wine selection. Every time we are there we are there for like 2 hours with firends and they never rush us! Again its not a really fancy romantic place but its my fave to go to with FH!

I just had a great meal at Sweetwaters (on 111 in Hauppauge). I don't know if it was super-duper romantic, but it was very nice. Plus, they have an amazing chocolate fondue dessert...now that's romantic in my book!!

I went to sweetwaters once it and was the worst meal we ever ate. My mom went there a few times and loved the food.
I'd recomend Celantro's in Bayport. It was so nice there.

I agree ciao baby has excellent food, but it is way to cramped and crowded to be 'romantic'

Re: Romantic Restaurant on LI
I haven't been to it, but I'm dying to check out Tellers Chophouse in Islip.
Here's the Zagat review: A “cool converted bank” with “high ceilings, beautiful photos and a dark-wood cigar bar” is drawing interest in Islip in its current incarnation as a “shrine to meat”; also accounting for the attraction are “jumbo portions” of “incredible steaks and seafood”, all “cooked to perfection”, accompanied by “outstanding wines” cellared in a former “walk-in safe” as well as “wonderful service”; it’s certainly “pricey”, but “worth it” for such “unbelievable dining.”
Mazzi in Huntington
Zagat review: This “gem” is “one of the classiest eateries on the Island”, serving “sensational” Continental cuisine that’s both “inventive” and “delicious” in a “wonderfully romantic”, “candlelit” interior set in a “beautiful little old house” in Huntington Station; the “quick”, “accommodating” staff makes mavens feel positively “mayoral”, and though some say it’s “overpriced”, others counter “you get your money’s worth”; P.S. “love the jazz” trio on weekends.
Louis XVI in Patchogue
Zagat review: Loyal subjects are “transported to another time and place” at this waterfront “palace in Patchogue” with fluted columns and crystal chandeliers creating “surroundings fit for royalty” (it was voted the Survey’s No. 1 for Decor); “if you’re willing to pay Paris prices” (prix fixe or tasting menu) for “top-of-the-line” New French cuisine, then “dress to the nines” for an “extravagant” experience complete with “artful, delicious” fare, “a staff that could not be more accommodating” and a “fabulous view.”

Excellent food - quaint atmosphere...very romantic. Very pricey - but, imo, very worth it.

Re: Romantic Restaurant on LI
butterfields in haupague is great!
here is what zagat had to say:
'Tucked away in an industrial park, this hard-to-find place is worth the trip” rave reviewers of this New American neophyte in Hauppauge that has “hit the ground running” with chef Jerry Suppa’s “innovative presentations”, “varied selections” and “wonderful” dishes; the “impeccable service”, “pretty” decor (some tables have loveseats) and “soothing” live jazz on Mondays and Fridays make for a “fine experience.”
i also just at at blue honu last thursday and i was very impressed with the food. it was seafood/hawaiian. it is in huntington.
