Rome, Italy Anyone ever been

Rome, Italy Anyone ever been

They have some pretty good deals on travelocity and we were thinking of maybe doing it for our honeymoon after the first of the year, probably the week of Valentines day.

Is it cold there is Feb? Has anyone ever been? That would be so fun I think!

i was there in april (not 2007) and it was nice - warmer than in NY. i would think in february it would be nice than here too - like how it is down south.

from tripadvisor.com:

'What should one expect during late fall and winter? The rainy season starts in November -- be prepared for downpours. You can watch the Tevere (Tiber) rise along its walled banks, covering the walkways used in the drier months. This continues pretty much through February, but the weather can be unpredictable. Snowstorms can happen. Romans are unprepared for snow, and those who tried to remove it from the front of their shops and homes by throwing hot water on it obviously only made things worse. With the Mediterranean climate, weather patterns can be unpredictable. There are smaller crowds at this time and it will be just slightly easier getting restaurant reservations or standing in somewhat shorter lines at attractions and museums, except the Vatican Museums, where long lines exist year-round. Also be aware that while Holy Week (which can fall any time between mid-March to late April, depending on the calendar), is a beautiful and sacred celebration in Rome, it is also one of the most crowded times to be in Rome.'

Genrally winters in Rome are milder than they are here. But it's still Winter. The thing with Rome is...there's so much to see inside & outside. I think it's a great idea If you can get a deal..might be a once in a lifetime chance.

Rome is sooo amazing...

yeah, I'm really hopeing we can do it. if we left on Feb 9 and came home on Feb 15 it is between $800 and $1500 per person which includes hotel and roundtrip air fare. The price differs depending on what hotel you are in but still, $1600 for 3 people for round trip air fare and accomodations is not bad at all! And we would be there for Valentines Day, very nice. We would have till Feb to save for the spending / food $$ too!
