Re: ROMPER ROOM WEDDING !!!
i understand yoyr frustration, but to call it a romper room wedding b/c kids will be there is a little bit insensitive, don't you think? we are having a young fg and 2 young rb's, i don't think that makes it romper room.
find a way to make it work, or just put your foot down

Re: ROMPER ROOM WEDDING !!!
Oh - I can completely relate and understand. I had to explain to my entire family, cousins, aunts and uncles, etc that I didn't want kids at my wedding for a day ceremony and they are still shocked!! I told them they could bring them to the ceremony for a family photo, but that's all - I'm not paying full price for kid's plates of which they won't eat and may end up throwing around.

Listen I'm a mother and Own a Daycare center.I don't want kids there either. At my wedding there will be about thirteen kids there. That's because of FH seven sisters and brothers! Whatever I'm totally ignoring them. I reaaly wish they could have stayed home!

Oh I can DEFENITELY relate to this!!!!
I went to a wedding recently where the Bride decided to have all of her nieces/nephews in the bridal party..and I don't need to tell you what a catastrophe that was. They cried during the ceremony...ran around like maniacs during the reception..it was crazy. AND..as if that wasn't bad enough...the person who was supposed to be watching them..didn't. Weddings are for adults..why don't people get that!!!

i disagree. its a personal decision, not mandatory that there not be kids.
if you are not having kids, thats fine for you, but if i am, doesn't make it wrong

Re: ROMPER ROOM WEDDING !!!
I really don't like kids at weddings, a couple is fine but more than that I don't like. At our wedding we had 4 kids and all over the age of 10. I personally think kids at a wedding gets in the way of the adults having fun. JMO

Re: ROMPER ROOM WEDDING !!!
I totally agree with you...We didn't want kids at our wedding.
We went to a wedding once where a 3 year old screamed, 'Mommy, pee pee' for about 20 minutes...ummmm...take the friggin kid to the bathroom! I'm sure the bride really appreciated that on her wedding video!
I also attended a wedding where there were a ton of kids and they were climbing all over the little platform that the head table was sitting on...Under the tablecloth, on top of the table...and this was right next to the dance floor...It was so obnoxious, not to mention dangerous!
But I digress...
Don't feel guilty about sticking to your guns on this one. It's your wedding...and if you don't want a 'romper room wedding' ( at that, by the way) you shouldn't feel forced to.

Re: ROMPER ROOM WEDDING !!!
FH are not in agreement on this either. I lost the argument because no matter what I said he had a comeback. I said a Sunday evening wedding that ends at midnight isn't appropriate for young kids - his response - 'it is not our job to parent other people's kids' I said I don't want kids running around at the wedding - his response - 'their parents will be responsible for them' He said, if we don't include the kids then X won't come - my response - 'then they can just stay home' - his retort - 'but I want X to be at the wedding'
And his biggest thing - he doesn't think it's appropriate to exclude children if they are old enough to understand the meaning of a wedding.
Nothing I said made a difference. The compromise - his family gets invited with kids, mine doesn't. Not that this means much because all the kids are on his side. The saving grace IMO, they are all over the age of 10.

Re: ROMPER ROOM WEDDING !!!
Simply put. I have a one year old and I'm a teacher. Children don't belong every where. Some things children should not hear and see yet. Alcohol can bring out actions and words children should not hear. Adults celebrating at an adult occasion such as a evening reception is an inapropriate place for a BUNCH of children to be around. Adults work hard all week they want to relax. Not always chase kids and censor themselves all night. Especially around children who are not theirs!

Re: ROMPER ROOM WEDDING !!!
no kids at my wedding, have we heard s@#* from family members about it? yup, but oh well, i am an occupational therapist and work/love kids, but i didnt want them at my wedding, the only kids under 13 are my brother and nephew who are in the wedding party (both are 12), my cousin who is the flower girl and is 9 and her brother who is 11. My Fh brother and SIL had to get a babysitter for their 14 months old and 2 year old and were very unhappy, but they depend on FH other SIL and his mother to watch them whenever we are around and i ddint want them to be babysitting all night (i am watching out for them) since all of them are in the wedding party and will be needed by me and FH
