Can anyone give me a ballpark figure on replacing a roof? One of my brother's friends is coming later this week to give me an estimate, but I have no what's fair. I hadn't planned on him coming so soon, and I haven't had time to research this.

Re: Roof estimates?
I had this done and got several quotes that varied in price from $4000-$7000. (If you are just going over it is cheaper.) It of course can depend on the size of our house and the different types of roof mterials. Also, there is this 5(?) step program most roofers use. Some contractors add extra steps and then the price of course goes up. Also, work plywood into any contract. If there is plywood damage under the roof - that will have to be repaired and that can get pricey. I had my contractor throw in certain amount of plywood in the contract and worked in what the fee would be if you needed more. Luckily - we had no plywood damage.
(I don't have my notes here at work - I am hoping those were right ballpark figures - but if you want more info from my research - FM me and I can look it up one day at home.)

Re: Roof estimates?
We paid $8000 for an 1800 sq. ft ranch. (included Architectual shingles, 3 feet of ice paper on roof edges and removal of 2 layers of shingles.) The cost did not include roof repair where there was water damage and holes in the plywood (DH and my father repaired that on their own.)
