we blocked rooms at the four points by sheraton. We did have to sign a contract but we don't owe them $$ if the rooms don't get booked. They just get released a month before our wedding

Re: Room Blocks?????
Hi,
I have been going through this big time lately because we need at least 70 ROOMS for Sat. night for our (many) OOT guests.
I was NOT happy with the Hyatt (Windwatch) because they were making us guarantee 80% of the rooms we blocked off.
With half of our guests in the military (and thus subject to schedule change without notice) guaranteeing was an impossibility.
I would say without a doubt, unless you are 100% sure that your guests are going to show up, do not sign at a hotel that makes you guarantee the rooms will be booked (and pay the difference if they dont).
We signed a contract but they will simply release the rooms 1 month before if our guests have not booked yet.
FM me if you need more help. This has been my major project lately!

we signed a contract but don't any money for anything. We get a free shuttle for our guests to the recpetion if we get 10 rooms booked. I know we will book at least 10 rooms.

Re: Room Blocks?????
I did the room block thing. We did have to sign a contract but we started out with 20 rooms blocked out and we kept calling the hotel once a week to check on the progress. If the block started to run low we spoke to the person in charge of the blocks and kept adding alittle more. The only problem i had with doing this was we could prob use about 45-50 rooms and we were stopped @ 38. The hotel is now 100% booked and we cant add any more to our block. I sent out notices 6 months ago so i am hoping that anyone that needed a room booked it. If not they are ontheir own.

Re: Room Blocks?????
i'm going through this whole hotel block thing and it's so frustrating to go through it w/ a fine tooth comb..
it said that i must guarantee them 20 night stay i'm booking rooms for the night before and the night of and i thought it meant that we need to book so many nights w/ them or something but they swear no.. just make sure you go through each and every word before you sign a contract..

Re: Room Blocks?????
We had to sign a contract- we booked in August for our March wedding... only 10 rooms which we can adjust to more if we needed but we had to guarantee the 10 minimum and also we booked transportation to and from Russo's as well for the OOT guests and needed to have that in writing as well.
We also had to guarantee the block of 10 rooms to be filled by a certain date.

Yep! exactly! You want to sign a contract so you have something to go back to in case they don't do as they promise!
