think about how many OOTers you have coming...and guestimate...if you dont have to put money down yourself, i would put a higher number ...better than being short rooms

Put down more than you think you need. My hotel gave me a price of $139 and I wasn't responsible for paying for the rooms if they weren't all booked. For $119, I would be responsible for covering all rooms not reserved. I went for the higher price because I don't really have an idea on how many people will be staying...................

That's funny - they gave me the $119.00 price, but they didn't offer me the option of the higher number ...

So far, the Sheraton was the best deal - also $119.00 and no guarentee for 10 rooms period. I called 4 local hotels yesterday actually!

My hotel put 10 rooms down for the day before the wedding, then 20 rooms for the day of the wedding and after each of these blocks are taken up, they will add another 10 and another 10, etc.

It's tough when the hotel you are using is your venue because a lot of people may surprise you and end up staying!

We went through our guest list and calculated how many people we thought would attend, how many OOT and other guests would stay at the hotel (we usually stay at the hotel even if the wedding isn't OOT) and came up with a number, my FH was pretty accurate and I came in on the lower side.

Also, find out what their policy is. We have blocked 20 more rooms than we're totally responsible for on Sat night but, to make that number we can count the rooms blocked on Friday night as well.

My hotel put 15 the day before the wedding and 10 for the day of the wedding. Prices were 129.00 plus continental breakfast, this was at the wingate inn in garden city. they just did it, I didnt give them a number this is how they booked it. I guess if I needed more I would have asked but this was fine for me.

no money out of our pocket at all.
