Hey guys, So as many of you guys know..i have never been to a wedding reception. Therefore, i know i ask some silly questions but i love you girls for answering.
So for hotel blocks..i have 4 choices:
Choice A: 45 day cutoff to block rooms No bar or restaurant area Can rent a space for 300 dollars if we have 10 rooms (not sure if we will) Free shuttle with 10 rooms (again not sure if will) No breakfast included 20 min from rh
Choice B: 30 day cutoff to block rooms Cafe, restaurant and bar area If want to set something up would do it with bar (no idea what this would be) No shuttle No breakfast 17 min from rh
Choice C: 3 week cutoff to block rooms No bar, no restaurant area but they do have a mix lobby (dk what this is) Shuttle from airport but not to rh Complimentary breakfast 15 min from rh
Choice D: 1 month cutoff to block rooms No bar or restauraunt There is a space to rent (if we decide) 100 with 10 rooms 200 without 10 rooms Shuttle if 10 rooms (shuttles 12 people back and forth-will make 2 trips): if not 10 rooms its only 150 round trip Complimentary breakfast 630-930 they said they would set something up from 10-11 for our guests if we want 14 min from rh
There is one that I am leaning towards, but i wanted opinions first on which, as a guest you would want! Also, are you providing something AFTER reception (mine ends at midnight on a sun the day before memorial day), if so what are you doing?
Are you doing breakfast in the AM (if so are you setting one time and having seats set up for your guests)? are u doing a buffet that the hotel sets up?
THANKS TIMES A MILLION!

Re: Room blocks..whats the most important to you?
CRASHING-
Since we're getting married at the same hall, I figured I'd let you know my experience so far with my room block. I'm pretty sure your choice D is the hotel I'm using because the amenities are exactly the same.
I only had 6 rooms booked out of my block of 10 and the hotel is giving us free shuttle service regardless (we're using 1 trip to the hall, and 2 trips back). They are also charging us for the honeymoon suite at the same price our guest rooms are, and comping us one night because we are staying the night before and the night of. I'd definitely work with them, let them know your other options you have, and I'm pretty sure they'll match, if not exceed, the competitors offers.

Thanks so much :) YES! D is the hotel that you told me you were staying at :)
are you setting up a breakfast where you have tables set aside for your guests? are you doing anything that night?
When did they tell you about the free shuttle and comped rooms?
Thanks for responding!

FH and I are actually leaving bright and early the next morning for our HM, so we're not having any sort of breakfast with our guests. Jessica did extend the offer, saying she would block off a certain amount of tables if we wanted, but we felt since only our BP are getting rooms, it wasn't needed. Our reception isn't over until 12:30, but we requested all of our guests rooms to be on the same floor as our suite, and my guests are bringing their own alcohol, so the party will continue in someone's room lol.
That's mainly the reason I went with the wingate- because they were the only hotel that had a mini fridge and microwave standard in each room, plus the shuttle service.
And we actually didn't find out about the comped room and shuttles until last week when she sent us over the checklist to review and sign. I had to call her and ask if this was correct, and she said it was a courtesy she has the right to offer to each bride and groom. I thought it was incredibly sweet of her!!! It really saved me a ton of $$$

The hotel has a complimentary breakfast buffet for the people staying there. We are probably going to have a BBQ at either our new house or his brother's house the afternoon after the wedding but we are not positive about that yet.
Our hotel said that we can use the shuttle and they can drop us off at a local bar and pick us up but I am not sure if we are going to do that. The hotel in the bar is going to be closed but we may have one of FH friends have things in his room and we all hang out there. This way if people just want to stop by for a drink they can and they do not feel like they have to stay at the bar for a few hours!
we did this at my friend's wedding. we weren't particularly loud, but there were a lot of us, and we were drinking. some lady kept complaining about the noise, her kids, etc. They made us break it up.

Id go with choice D. My wedding ends at 12 and we're not having anything provided, but my RH is going to open up the bar upstairs for an after party.
That is one of the features I loved about BCC!
I think choice D sounds the best. For me price/shuttle are the most important to me when it comes to the room block and the complimentary breakfast is a nice feature. Until you know who is staying you may not know who is interested in an afterparty so having that as an option is good but not necessary.

I think options C & D are the best.
We're using the Fox Hollow Inn since its literally next door and they offer a breakfast in the morning. Our wedding is Sun. evening as well, we're not providing any after party. We probably would not have purchased the day after breakfast either, if it were not included.
