We're considering getting a band instead of a DJ for the reception. We like the way the room looks with the uplighting that DJs normally offer but with a band do you girls think it's even worth it to consider getting uplighting from a 3rd vendor?
From the weddings that you have seen with bands, do people have uplighting or lighting for the band area?

I'm having a band. Ask your RH, mine provides uplighting for an additional fee. I decided against it only because I am having a day time wedding and don't think it will make that much of a difference. If it were a nighttime wedding, I would have reconsidered the extra expense.

my band doesnt provide it and my RH is charging $700 so i found a dj co that will do it for $500 so i think i am going with them, but obviously not for the djing they are just bringing in the uplighting

Net267 - no my RH doesn't offer it & ours is an evening reception.
LKatz1029 - do you mind passing along the DJ company that you are using? How many uplightings are they offering you for the room & is it for 1 color or will it change throughout the night?

our band brought stage lights, which actually looked like uplighting. you can see the red hue in pics in my album.
you can also try asking your florist. they can sometimes provide uplighting too.
