rose ceremony for mom

rose ceremony for mom

my mom is like my best friend (after fh of course!!) and so i wanted to include her in our wedding in a special way. i heard about the rose ceremony for the mothers, where you give them each a rose and tell them how much they mean to you and i LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea!! and fh's mom has always been SOOOO supportive of us, even at times when other people weren't...so i am really looking forward to giving her a rose too.

so i am so excited that we decided to do this. i was just wondering, is anyone else doing anything for their mom?!

That's such a sweet and great idea! Where do you do the ceremony - at the church or RH?

well our ceremony is at rh...but it's done during the ceremony. i think the original idea was that the bride presents a rose to her mother as she walks up the aisle, but i don't like that. i actually want to take a moment during the ceremony for us each to give a rose to our mothers and say a few words thanking them for all they've done for us.

the last wedding i was at the bride had a poem for her mom and gave mom her bouquet....the poem described the whole meaning of it ...it was sooo touching ...i am thinking about doin it !

You do it at the church right after you do the rings I think...your FI/DH gives your mom a rose and you give your MIL a rose. We're going to do that too...its a beautiful gesture. Other than special corsages there's really nothing else I can thing of to give them distinction. My FMIL is deceased so we may donate some flowers to the church in her honor.

that is beautiful! i think it is such a sweet thing to do! Jeaneatte, did you see the bride do the rose ceremony in the video at Golden Moments?? when i went there, i think the bride did that in her video and it was sooo sweet! i would like to do something similar, just dont know if it would be appropriate to hand out roses in the church. (i would do it if i was getting married at RH)....maybe i can think of something to do at the reception. let me know if you have any ideas.

Yes I am...The florist can make a break away bo-k with 1 or 2 break away flowers...after you are escorted down the aisle, you hand one flower to your mother (or hand it to your escort to give to your mother) and if you'd like, one flower to FMIL. I think it's a great idea to recognize them at the ceremony.

no, actually i didn't see that!! he was jumping around to different parts of the video so i guess we missed that...

you could totally do it at the reception!! maybe either just before or just after the father/daughter, mother/son dances you could present your mom with a rose or at that point, even a bouquet. i think it would be really sweet!! maybe while you were presenting it to her and while she walked up to get it, you could have a song playing in the background, kind of like a mother/daughter dance, but instead just giving her the flowers?

i'll let you know if i think of anything else.
