I'm getting married the day after Valentine's Day. I would like to have red roses, but lots of people are telling me that they are going to be way more expensive at that time of year than they normally are. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Re: Roses on Valentine's Day
Yes, from what I've seen, they're usually double (at least) at this time of year. Check with some florists to be sure though....
see...i would think the day after...they would be dirt cheap!!

I think if you go to burtons it wont matter, because they are not a forist like that,. they only do weddings..

Re: Roses on Valentine's Day
I would expect that the rise in prices is done from the suppliers up -- so even non-retail florists like Burtons would face a higher costs.

It's true!
It's true! I used to work for a store that sold flowers, and the owner would stock up on roses a week and a half before Valentine's day, and keep them in a refrigerator.

Re: Roses on Valentine's Day
I got married 2 days after Valentine's Day and had the same fear. The first florist I went to I actually left in tears. I was even going to get silk flowers for the price reason. After doing some searching I checked into Stephen's on Central Ave in Cederhurst. They did exactly what I wanted and the prices were not more because of Valentine's day. I had seven girls plus a flower girl and they all had roses. I had roses in mine as well. I was so happy when I saw how beautiful they came out. They were even more beautiful than I had imagined. Look into them and speak with Neil he was a doll to work with.

Like EGreen I got married on the 16th of February as well. I too was afraid that the prices would be inflated, but to my surprise they were not. I even had roses as centerpieces on my tables. I used Flowers by Lorraine in Massapequa
