RP '07: UGH, Help Please

*This might be TMI, but I really need your help*

Ok so I went for a facial yesterday in the city (Mario Badescu). After a few masks and cleanings, the facialist just grabs a few tissues and goes at it - she didn't warn me that she was about to do extractions. Normally this isn't a problem but she tried to pop a pimple that wasn't ready to be poped and I didn't have a second to tell her to stop. I guess it bled a little b/c she kept dabbing it. Then she takes some sort of chemical and puts it on that now very sensitive spot (I asked what it was and she didn't know). It burned and I told her. She said it's supposed to help it dry out.

Well now I have a very visible scar in that area. It's red and looks like a burn. I'm wondering if you ladies have some recs about what I can put on it to help it heal without scarring? Anything to make that scar go away faster?

My wedding is 3 weeks away

i would go to a dermatologist right away, to make sure that there is no burn or allergic reaction. If you just start putting things on it whithout knowing what she did or used, it could make the problem much worse. (Trust me i have suffered from acne for a decade) With your wedding so close, it will be worth the trip to make sure it is right. In the meantime, keep the area very clean and I would say don't start clogging it up too much by putting things on it. give it a few days

ETA: if you really feel you should put something on it, use Aquaphor. FMIL works for a dermatologist and she says it is the #1 most recommended item that the dr. suggests. And i know from experience it works great. (and no prescription needed)

I am so sorry!

Mederma could help with the scaring but I'm not sure about the redness. And be careful, watch for infection.

maybe you can rub some vitamin E on it...its supposed to help against scarring (get like vitamin e capsuls (sp) and break them open.)

Definitely get to a cosmetic dermatologist asap. In the meantime, you could go to the pharmacy and see what a pharmacist has to say. Maybe putting Vitamin E on it will help it out. I would check with the pharmacist first.

Don't worry about it - it's not going to scar. It's happened to me plenty of times, and what they put on it is an alcohol based agent that dries it out. Unless you pick at it, your skin will heal naturally. I would apply Vitamin E, but it's nothing that you have to go to a Dermatologist for.

Vitamin E should do the trick, Ev.
Sorry this happened to you!!! Why would this idiot put a chemical on an open wound!?!?!?

Don't worry, it'll be gone before the wedding!

ive also heard that crushed up asprin with a touch of water makes a good paste to leave on for about ten minutes, then put the vitamin E on.

Before you put anuthing on it, you need to call a dermatologist. He/She can tell you what to put on it.
