RP: Addressing STD

RP: Addressing STD

No one on BHB wants to help me so I'll try here.

One of our GM has been dating a girl for over a year, so of course she's invited. they do not live together. I'm not friends with her and don't even know her last name. What do I do with the STD? Send it to our GM & Girlfriend at his address? Just send it to GM and verbally let him know that she's invited? Get her last name and address and send her a separate STD (this doesn't seem right because she'd only be invited if she's still dating him 7 months from now)?

I just sent out my STD's and I had some people in the same situation... I just addressed it to that person and would write 'Mr. whoever and Guest'. HTH!

i agree...you can just put her first name.

As I see it, you have 2 options, you can 1) send it to him fully addressed and just add her first name (ie Mr. Bob Doe & Jane), or 2) you can call him up and find out her last name, plenty of FH's friends have done this when we were engaged and they were sending out STD's and wedding invitations.

You know what? I'd call and get the last name. You're going to need it for the invite anyway....

i would ask him for her name (first and last) and address it to both him and her on the same envelope and send it to his house.

Sorry, after i posted my question i went off to watch Project Runway and didn't read these replies until now. Thanks for them!

So, to clarify, everyone's saying that i should put 'John Doe and Jane Smith' at his address even though she does not live there with him?

Re: RP: Addressing STD

Last night, i posted this on BHB first and just checked back there, and EVERY bride there gave the exact opposite advice as you 08'ers. All 5 or 6 of them said that an STD is informal, and who knows what 6 months from now will bring, so if they don't live together, just tell him verbally that of course she's invited and address the STD just to him.

Who do I believe????

I sent it to just the person I know with no guest name attached. I'm saving that headache for the wedding invite addressing...

eta: only those who don't live together...

eta again: That is my feeling - STDs are informal.

I just did the same thing (yesterday actually!) - but those are my thoughts exactly - save the headache for the invites! (Plus we didn't have any living together who weren't married.) HTH
