April 2nd is Autism Awareness Day. Please take a moment to educate yourself about this condition that now affects 1 out of every 150 children. That number also includes my ALMOST seven year old nephew Carlton, so if you get a moment today please say a prayer for him and all the other children who struggle with this every single day!!!

I work with children with Autism. I wish more people would educate themselves about this disability.

my cousin's daughter was a healthy baby and toddler.. then when she hit 2, things started to 'slow' down.. i'm sure many of you know what i mean.. but they live in another country..
it took a while for them to properly diagnose her.. and now she's attending a 'special ed' school and is doing much better.. it was depressing to hear her family speak about the ordeal of not knowing...
honestly, it terrifies me to see how common it is.. all i can do is pray..

i work with children with children with Autism (and other special needs) in a special ed school. It's definitely an important thing to be aware of. Thanks for posting this!
