RP BHB: Dress Shopping Advice

So, I'll finally be graduating and that means that the real wedding planning is going to begin!! Kinda excited

First on my list is going to be dress shopping, both for me and bm.... How does this work??

For the bride's dress: Do I need to make an appointment with stores? Any recommendations in the Mineola area? I'm thinking Bridal Reflections in Carle Place

For the BM: I have 1 MOH and 8 BM. Should I bring them all at once or bring half at a time? Do I need to make an appointment for them too?? Recommendations?

BTW: I have no idea what to expect with this whole shopping experience

TIA

i will be doing the bridesmaid thing too..im graduating as well so i have not much done either!

i think i am going to have my 2 MOHs come with me to pick them out..send a pic to make sure they like it and then we will take it from there.

for my dress, i actually made an appt at a trunk show and bought it the first day so im not sure every place may be different.

Every place is different, so I suggest calling them up and asking about an appointment--chances are you'll have to make one though.

For BM dress shopping, I took my MOH and one of my BM's (which was the hardest to dress) and had them try on dresses. Once we decided on a dress, it was sent out to everyone else. Looking back, I'm happy I didn't take all my BM because it would've been a MUCH longer process.

Re: RP BHB: Dress Shopping Advice

I'm newly engaged and haven't gone shopping yet. However, I have my FSIL getting married this August as well as MOH in August too. I have been involved in both their adventures, as well as my best friend's two years ago. I know that you DO have to make appt's to go dress shopping. I also know that Bridal Reflections in Carle Place is ver $$$$$ a Foo-Foo...don't go there without makeup on or underdressed...they will gawk at you rudely!

Also, you should know what dress you want your BM's and MOH to wear ahead of time....if you go there with no idea in mind you'll go crazy! If you can't choose one style, have a few in mind, as well as colors....it'll help make your visit easier. Bridal stores are usually packed...when you know your plan of attack it's just easier. Also have colors in mind. Hope that helps :)

Some places tell you to make appts and some places don't. If you're going to go shopping on the weekends I recommend you make an appt, the stores get crazy. If you go on a weekday you don't really have to unless the store requires it

Dress shopping is so exciting! I'm graduating on Sunday so I really want to go for my BM dresses soon (I already got my dress).

I recommend that you make appointments for both your dress and BM dresses. If you have 8 BMs plus an MOH, I wouldn't take them all to shop for the BM dresses - I think it will get too crazy with 9 girls because think of all the comments/opinions you'll be getting! This is JMO, I'm sure whatever you decide to do will be fine.

Good luck and have fun!

Yes, I would call and make an appt just to be on the safe side. You're going to have sooo much fun!!! Wear good undies that cover your arse because that sales lady is gonna see it all!! Also, bring pictures with you if you have an idea in mind but also, let the sales lady know that you're open to all suggestions and that she can bring you whatever she thinks you'll look good in. Remember, she's been helping brides for YEARS and has an objective opinion when it comes to what will look good on you. She could open your eyes to dresses you never would've thought twice about.

OK, IMO I would NEVER bring all of my BMs with me when shopping for their dress... too many hands in the pot and not everyone is going to be pleased and someone may feel slighted when you turn down their suggestion. I suggest bringing your MOH only, that's what I did. And once you've narrowed the dress down to one or a few, then start bringing your BMs in dribs and drabs to see what dress they like the best out of the ones you've chosen.

Good luck an dhave fun!
