RP BHB - SLIP HELP

OK so I bought a super full slip on e-bay a couple of months ago. I am going for my first fitting on Feb 22nd, so I decided to take it out of the box and hang it up so it's not in a ball that day.

Well it is HUGE and I mean looks like the State Puff Marshmallow Man is hanging in my computer room.

I am sure it is going to go down a bit, but does anyone know if your seamstress can cut some material out if they need to?

If the material of your dress is heavy, it will weigh down the slip flattening it out a bit..my slip takes up the entire floor of my guestroom
