RP: E-pics, do you think this will work..

Okay so I emailed Oksana, to see if she could do my makeup on Nov 8, she's going on vacation so she can't. My back up plan was so head over to Roosvelt Fields Tuesday morning to hit the MAC counter and get a 'make-over', do you think this will work, do I need an appt?

TIA

If you are going to the MAC counter you do need an appointment. I called the MAC counter and they said an appointment was not needed but when I showed up they said I needed one. Call and make an appointment, if they tell you it's not needed insist on making an appointment anyway.

Should I go to the MAC counter in Macy's or Bloomies?

All MAC artists are qualified to apply makeup - they are independently owned (by Estee Lauder) so you don't have to worry about Macy's vs. Bloomies.

I made an appointment both times I had a makeover done - you have to buy four products totalling $50 or more.

I actually just went this past Sunday to a MAC counter at Macy's - his work was PHENOMINAL. Make sure you give yoursel AT LEAST an HOUR.

You can also try any of the makeup vendors from here. Just let them know you want to have a trial which you can use for your engagement pictures.

This will totally work but just be specific as to what you want. A friend of mine did MAC for E pics and they gal treated it as if it were her wedding day so the makeup was a bit much for E pics. She was just in jeans and a sweater. So my advice is do it but keep it somewhat natural.

Yes, most of them do come to your house. I'm using a MAC Artist for my wedding day.

Estee Lauder owns Estee Lauder, MAC, Clinique, Prescriptives, Aveda (I think) as well as others. They also own the names and rights to MANY fragrances. I think you could go to any of the counters and they would do right by you.

Basically the brands are all the same stuff inside the make up (with the exception of colors and amounts of talc they use), but MAC is more fashion forward (with more and changing colors). In terms of smoothness and application, FSIL who works for Estee Lauder suggested the Estee Lauder brand over the others. Im led to think that a lot of what you see out there is hype in pretty packages used to swindle consumers into paying more money than they have to.
