RP from 08: Shoes in greece

For those that have been to Greece what shoes are appropriate? I keep hearing about comfortable shoes but i have such pretty sundresses? do i need to wear sneakers the whole time? Will my feet die if i don't?

If you're going to be doing a lot of walking/sightseeing/touristy things, then you will definitely need comfortable shoes. Not sneakers necessarily because then your feet will get too warm but at the very least, a comfortable sandal. You can wear all your pretty sundresses at night

Where are you going in Greece?

I agree, Greece is a very dry country in the summer and there is dirt, rocks and mountains everywhere. I would say when ur inthe City take out those dresses and gorgeous Heels, but def comfortable shoes around villages or sight seeing. What part of Greece are you traveling to?

if your good with flip flops all day then you should be fine! you are going to love it!!

make sure to catch the sunset in Oai when you are in santorini.. it is a beautiful view from there.. pick up some wine and cheese too and sit somewhere to watch it!!

Spend the least amount of time in Athens. It is a dirty smaller city. So many foreigners now live in the heart of Athens doing drugs onthe streets its just awful in some parts. Def see the parthanon and go around monastaraki. However thats all you need to see there! ITs hott sticky and crouded! Go to the islands and enjoy the true Greek Life. Enjoy

i cant remember any of the restaurant names but i'm sure they are all good.. santorini and mykonos have cute little shops that are fun to browse.. def try the octopus, fried cheese, a frappe and all the greek dishes..
in mykonos the night life does not start til very late.. dont be surprised to see people just sitting down to eat at 11pm! i saw many sunrises when i was there! lol.. check out paradise beach for some music, drinks and just hanging out on lounge chairs during the day..
the islands in general are nice to just walk around and hang out..
