RP from '08 - Two officiants?

Hi, I posted this on the 08 boards too, but I need help with this!!

So, last night, FH and I were talking about who is going to officiate at our wedding. FH is catholic, I am Jewish, so we were looking to do a non-religious wedding. We met with an officiant (a rev from the site, doesn't matter who) and it just didn't feel right. This was over the summer, and we haven't met with anyone else yet. Last night, we talked about it and realized maybe we don't want someone who neither of us know... FH's great uncle is a priest, and I have a rabbi who I love from my temple when I grew up. We are now considering asking both of them to marry us...

my question is...is anyone having two officiants? How does this work? How has your family received the idea?

I have been to many weddings where there have been both a Rabbi and a Priest or Reverend. My daughter is getting married and is also have a Rabbi and a Priest. She is using Rabbi Renee Feller and Father O'Connell. They fell in love with both of them immediately. I would talk to your officiants that you know if they are willing to do it go for it. I answered on the 08 board, but just in case....i'm using two. A rabbi and a priest.

My sister had two full ceremonies - they did a Catholic ceremony first and then a Jewish ceremony at the RH.

Some people didn't show up for the first ceremony and just attended the second one. I loved her wedding, having two ceremonies was really intereseting.

make sure you check with your rabbi and find out if he/she will officiate at interfaith weddings (b/c not all do) and if he/she does ask if he/she will work with a clergy person of another faith (b/c some will not.)

We are having 2 officiants, but they have worked together many times in the past so I know it will go smoothly.

I found the Rabbi from my Bat Mitzvah, he retired from the Temple but still performs ceremonies! And he recommended someone wonderful to perform the Catholic side of things.

They will each do different parts of the ceremony, they gave us an outline of how it will all go (who does which part).
