RP from BHB: CAR RENTAL in HAWAII

For those of you who have gone or plan on going to Hawaii for your honeymoon, I need your help.
Can anyone recommend a car rental company? We are going to Maui, Kauai, and Oahu. I know all the big ones are there (Hertz, Enterprise, National, etc.) but I'm looking to see if anyone had good/bad experiences with these companies. Also, if I book the car in advance is it ready as soon as I go to the counter?

We used hertz ,because it was at the hilton hawaiian village where we were staying in oahu, and we had absolutely no problems. The car was there immediately when we got to the counter and was very clean. If you use any of the big company names like you mentioned above you really shouldnt have any problems.

Honestly I would not recommend a car for Oahu, the other islands yes but not Oahu. And yes the car is usually ready. I have had great experience with Avis. Remember in Hawaii you have to pay for parking and it can be expensive, Oahu was so busy I had the hardest time finding parking and half the time I did not even take my car because I did not need it. Most activites offer shuttles to pick you up at your hotel and it costs cheaper than parking and gas for the day.
