RP from BHB: Dress confusion!

RP from BHB: Dress confusion!

So, I have my appt. tonight to get measured to order my gown. I went with Burton's because we got our flowers there, they seemed nice, good price, and mainly, they told me there is no charge for alterations on the bodice of my gown and since it's hollow to hem, I'm thinking that would be the only place to get altered.

Well, Bridal Elegance (Phyllis) gave me a good price too but I went with Burton's for the above reasons. I'm now second guessing as I always see raves for her.

Any great experiences with Burton's? My friend loved them so I should just go with them, stop second guessing and deal with it....right?!?!

EEK!

Oh, and I lost 10 lbs in the last month and I am 7 1/2 months from our wedding. Everyone except Burton's and Phyllis told me Jasmine takes 16 weeks....am I ordering too early? That would give me 3 months or so for alterations.....I just don't want to have to have my gown totally re-designed if I lose more (which I plan to).....

Okay, sorry for my venting/panic/questions!!!

I'm getting my dress from BE, they seem to be the best price from what i've seen. I've heard great things about them. My experience there was mixed however so i'm a little nervous.

As far as Burtons, I've had dresses altered there no problems, they've done a great job. However my sister got her gown there and she wasn't really happy. The bust wasn't taken in enough and she was pouring out of her dress.

I would talk to Burtons and tell them you can get a lower price from another place. They should be able to match it (if they are smart).

Congrats on the weight loss!!!!!

I am not from LI so I am not familiar with those places. (I'm sorry ) I think you will be fine with Burton's. How much more weight do you plan on loosing?

BE was like $10-$20 less...alterations policies are different....so Burton's would be cheaper bc everything on the bodice is included...

I am just worrying about nothing!

i've heard great things about both places so i wouldnt worry.
I'm having a similar concern about the time frame for ordering my gown... i think i found it, but it only takes 12 weeks to get in... so if i order it now.... i'm worried it will totally have to be redone by the wedding.
i've been told that taking the gown in really isnt that big of a hassle though and most gowns can be taken in 3 sizes.
call them and ask what their seamstress thinks? or talk to them about it when you go there?
