RP from BHB: Giving in!!!!

I need a bigger room at leonard's. The room which antonio booked us in is too small for the amount of guests I am set to have. Originally, I had a guest list of about 165, but now it is about 200. He says that the continental room holds 175 comfortably, that is nonsense! It is no bigger than the empire room downstairs, and that only holds 140 max!!! Antonio says that the only room left for 10/20/07 is the Penthouse room, and I have to guarantee 200 people!! What if only 190 come, I have to pay for 10 extra people!!

What are my options,
1) invite less people...
2) invite more people and hope less come...
3) get the bigger room and pay the price

Do you ladies think I can get something out of doing number 3? Like maybe an extra hour for the price of 200? Any Suggestion or things you think I should ask for? Thanks!!!

That's a sticky situation. You definitely don't want to max out a room b/c the max means squishing everyone in there and taking up room on the dance floor. But if you are only inviting 200 people and they say about 10-20% will not come, theoretically speaking, you'll have 160-180 there. I think you should go for the bigger room. You can probably get them to throw in some extras for all the extra you'll have to spend.

thats a toughie- FH and I were planning a small wedding but fell in love with a bigger place ... along with this bigger place came a bigger guarentee of guests. We might not fill the minimum but it was more important to have the room so maybe number 3 isn't that crazy... depends how much of the cost is going to be wasted on empty seats.

Hmmm. IMO I would just invite less and have a B list in case 10-20% don't show you can invite them. I wouldn't go with more money and a bigger room. JMO. Good luck!
