RP: Invitations - PLEASE HELP

RP: Invitations - PLEASE HELP

My parents are paying for our RH so they feel that only their name should me on the invitations. Is that right? I feel kind of bad the FH parents names won't be on them. FH parents are paying for our extras. Limo, Flowers, DJ. I'm so stressed. I don't want to piss my parents off but I feel that his parents are also helping out with the wedding. WHAT DO I DO? My parents feel that they are paying for our wedding not FH parents.

I would word it:

Mr. and Mrs. Bride's Parents
request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their daughter
Bride
to
Groom
son of Groom's parents

etc., etc.

I think both parents' names should be on it out of respect. Your parents are being very generous -- but they aren't paying for the whole thing. Even if they were, the above wording to me doesn't suggest that the groom's parents are 'co-hosting' so-to-speak.

agreed. if DH's parents are contributing in anyway their names should be included. the above wording sounds perfect. it's not saying that they're hosting, but it's including them in a way that still gives them recognition. good luck!

If I understand you correctly, FH's family is covering pretty big vendors. As such, their names should absolutely be on the invites. I look at it as a sign of gratitude for the contributions

I guess its up to you. But tradition says that the bride's parents's name should be there if they pay for wed

We are in a similar situation. My parents are paying for the hall, we are paying for everything else, but I think FH's parents are giving us money toward that and most likely paying for the rehearsal dinner (which is costly given the size of our bridal party). That is the wording we are going to use. I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving FH's parents' names off the invite b/c my parents are paying for the bulk of it. I think this wording gives recognition to your parents (to those few guests who actually know that the wording is meant to indicate who's paying) but without slighting anyone else.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I just called my mother & gave her that idea she still wasn't happy but since I am like getting sick over the situation she is going to give in.

My parents paid for 95% of the entire wedding, and we worded ours like above:

Mr. and Mrs. XXXX invite you...
Bride
Groom
Son of Mr. and Mrs. XXX

This way people know who is paying, but you include them on the invite. I also wanted them on the invite bc I was worried that some of FH's parents guests might not even know who we were if his parents names werent there.

Good luck!

If you want, you can show her in my etiquette book how it says that this is the wording for when the bride's parents are hosting. If they were co-hosting, it would be Mr. and Mrs. Bride's Parents and Mr. and Mrs. Groom's Parents request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their children...

Tell them etiquette says that gracious hosts put the groom's family down, not to show that they are hosting, but out of respect for the idea that marriage joins too families. If that doesn't work, say it's out of respect for t he groom's parents and the guests who are friends of the groom's parents only (and wouldn't otherwise understand the invite!)

I just spoke with my mother again & she said I can add their names if it really makes me happy. She doesn't want me to be sick & upset over such a small thing.

FH's parents offered to contribute a very small amount and one has not even come up with the money a year later. We used this wording out of respect for them. Regardless of the amount of money they are contributing (or not contributing), they are still FH's parents. I feel that it's only fair to list them on the invite in this way IMO.
