Hey everyone! I had such a beautiful shower at the Garden Grill in Smithtown today! Everyone outdid themselves!
But I do have a question...Is it bad luck to use the stuff we got for the shower before the wedding??
I started to unpack everything then my FH asked me about this!!!

We used a few things that we needed to use like our vacuum cleaner, a vase, picture frame, and tea pot. We saved our towels, china, stemware, pots and pans, and bedroom sheet set until after the wedding.

I've been going to bridal showers since I was 10 and I remember hearing that you wait until you get married to use the gifts. Thats was I'm doing.

Congrats on your shower! I'm glad you had fun. It's up to you. We registered for things we knew we would use/needed before the wedding so we have been using them.

Wow, I actually never new this! As soon as I got home that day FH pulled out the new coffeemaker, I put the new sheets I got on our bed......Oh yea, and we attempted to make ice cream with the ice cream maker I SO should not have put on the registry.
I don't think it's bad luck (then again I'm getting married on Friday the 13th), so open them up if you're itchin too!

i didnt think it had to do with luck... i always heard it was in case something happened that called off the wedding you could send the gifts back. they are gifts because you are getting married so if you don't get married you shouldnt keep them kind of thing.
i have given several shower gifts that have been returned due to the wedding being called off. I'm glad they didnt use them, because if they had kept the gifts I would have been upset.
that being said, most of the girls knew they werent going to go through with the wedding. so if you're totally confident and i'm sure you are... open the gifts and have a great time.
i'm sure my fh and i will!

I've never heard of that. FH and I are moving in to our new house before the wedding and I'm planning on using the stuff I got at my shower! I really don't have a choice because until now I've lived in my dad's house, so I don't have any other household stuff to use except for what I got at my shower.

I didn't use anything until after we got married. I made my FH (now husband) put the new sheets on the morning of the wedding so it would be perfect when we came home the day after the wedding.
