RP: Jewish Wedding checklist

RP: Jewish Wedding checklist

OK ladies, first off just wanted to wish everyone (belated) l'shana tovah.

I know there is the mainstream checklist out there but I'm trying to figure out what else we might need for a religious ceremony. I know there is so many things and I don't want to forget anything.

Rabbi/Cantor
Kiddush cup
White wine (so you don't spill on dress)
Chupah
Kippahs (yarmulke)
Ketubah
Glass , bag and some kind of keepsake
Plain wedding band
Challah
Broom or flowered headpiece for mazhinka
Benchers (prayer books)

Am I forgetting anything?

-be sure to have white wine in your kiddush cup (in case of any spills)
-a stand for your ketubah during the service
-dont forget that Cantor's perform weddings too!

Thats something I probably should add. We have the rabbi. One of the first things I did when we decided on the date was call the temple I've belonged to for 25 years. Unfortuantely I didn't check the calendar because we're getting married on Purim. It's going to be a REALLY close call for the rabbi to get there ontime, but he said he will make it! I don't think the ceremony will start ontime and we weren't able to push it back.

I don't need benchers since I highly doubt we'd use them.

What about The Bakery in Plainview? I think they're Kosher, (tho i'm really not). We always go there when we bring to my aunts.

Thats a great idea, I'm likely to spill as well.

And you are correct, my sister had a cantor for her wedding but they didn't do anything secular since my BIL isn't Jewish and they didn't want to offend anyone.

Steinbergs is a kosher bakery in Oceanside and its really yummy...

Im getting married at a synagogue, do they already have the white wine and kiddush cup under the chuppah or do we bring it? I guess I should ask

my synagogue provided the white wine. we used our own kiddush cup, but every synagogue has kiddush cups that they should let you use if you dont bring your own.

it never hurts to ask!

we used the kiddush cup that DH received for his bar mitzvah and had it engraved with our names and our wedding date.
