There is no 'permanent certification' anymore, unless you are still under the old rules. It's only provisional now, but if you want more information you need to call albany. I applied for my certification through a boces center.

In the nysed website, you can apply online. I applied for my permanent license last year that way. Process took about 2 months to complete. And if you fall under the old regulations, there may a chance you may have to go to your local district to verify some information that is not updated in the online system, such as tests. Well good luck!

I just filed for mine too -- I was under the old guidelines as well. I just created an account on the NY Board of Ed site and gavet hem all my info -- then sent in supporting documents like my transcript from my Masters and also a copy of my marriage license so it's under my married name. Under the old guidelines a Provisional turns to Permananent Cert. I think under the new guidelines a Provisional turns to a Professional Cert.
