RP Opinions on The Thatched Cottage?

We went to go see it and really liked it. I've read nothing but great reviews but, a co-worker of mine had a bad experience there. I need more opinions...HELP!

TIA

I went there with my mom and the place was nice, just not exactly what we were looking for. I like the outdoor CH area... very pretty overlooking the water. The BM was very informative. I also like that they can include a pianist for when people are arriving for just a little bit more. The main thing I have heard about that place is that the food is very very good.

Good luck!

The place was OK but I wasnt really a fan of the food. I mean it could have been the menu that the bride and groom picked or it could have been an off night. Its nice that its only one wedding at a time and I like the outdoor area

I actually loved Thatched Cottage and we totally would have gone with them, but the decor was TRULY not our style. We are getting married at our RH so it is very important to us to have a beautiful area for the ceremony and we were really not feeling the upstairs chapel. Also the Ballroom was full that day so we never got to see it. It was between Thatched and HWC. But HWC def won!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just went there last night for a wedding--it was nice. I only have a few things to say--ther ceremony was outside and there were so many bugs, so that started to get annoying after awhile. Second, when they served dinner, they rolled all of these carts onto the dance floor and started to plate everything right there--I have never seen this before, so I thought it was odd. The last thing was that many people sent the prime rib back or didn't eat it, because it was over cooked. Other than that, it was very nice--the food at CH was great!!

we looked there also. It was very nice a little pricey, but we didnt like it b/c the guy that talked to us didnt really seem like he cared if we booked with him or not it was weird. So we went with larkfield manor they are soo nice and thru in all this stuff for us

Thanks for the info. You're the 2nd person to mention that the prime rib wasn't good. We're going to set up the food tasting, look at a few other places, and go from there. I'm so confused because we loved the CH room, but I don't want to be disappointed with the food or have guests complaining.

I don't know much about it, but that's where my parents got married back in the day :) And my mom told me they had 'packages' you could choose from that included everything - including a dress! Obviously, things have changed.

Ive actually never gone to a weddingthere. But my friend just booked her wedding there for 4/09 so ill be excited to see how it goes. It look sso pretty. But i have heard on here the food isnt as excelent as said. So for me thats a problem. Because if i get just one bad review well that can be an off night. If i hear many bad reviews about the same thing then Im so not booking there! SO GOOD LUCK & KEEP LOOKING AROUND!

I really wanted to look here but I heard that their kitchen is outside of the RH and that when people have gotten their food in the past it was cold and all. My main reason was the distance.

Thanks! I know what you're saying about the food, it makes me really nervous, but some people have the food is excellent. We're going to see how the tasting is and look around some more.

I was NOT a fan of the dance floor or the stage. I did hear that they only allow certain lighting for DJ's as well. I choose against it but i really did love the CH room and the beautiful grounds. Good Luck!

The dance floor isn't the greatest, I agree. I don't remember there being a stage?? What was that used for?

I have been there a few times and have never seen a stage... maybe it was up for a special occasion. I just got a phone call from my aunt who went to a wedding there 2 weekends ago and she said the food was fantastic... and she is SUCHHHHH a picky eater so I was shocked! lol. Just thought I would share! Good luck!
