RP:Tahiti/Bora Bora

This is the most expensive of the options we are currently considering - we've looked into it and this is what I've found.

This type of honeymoon will run you about $10,000. Tahiti is not the ideal place to stay while you're out there (it's more like a city). You can fly direct or with a connection to Papeete, Tahiti, stay one night in Tahiti and the next day fly to your place of choice.

The most beautiful of the islands is said to be Bora Bora. Moorea is supposed to be nice and have a little more to do. There is also Tahaa (sp?).

The overwater bungalows are THE most expensive to stay in, even in the less expensive hotels. So what TA's usually suggest is to break your stay into different islands and different types of rooms.

For example: garden view room in Tahiti (you're really on there for a few hours), then a garden or beach bungalow in Moorea, then an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora.

You can probably book a trip from anywhere between $7K to 12K for over a week and under two weeks. But everything there is VERY pricey (food etc). So they say to expect to spend about $3K when you're there.

This is all based on my experience so far (and we haven't booked this trip) so maybe someone out there has other/better info. Good luck!

ETA: The direct flight is about 12 hours. Longer if you do it with a connection (there aren't direct flights every day).
