Im working on my invites and I have no clue when to make my RSVP date is there any rule of thumb with this?
also besides the invite and the rsvp card is there anything else that should be in the invite?

Our RSVP date is about one month before the wedding. (Wedding date August 11; RSVP date July 7)

We are getting married on September 29, 2007 and our RSVP date is August 29, 2007.

Our wedding is July 7 and we made the RSVP date June 1. We did it based on when we need to get the final guest list ot the hall. They want it 2-4 weeks before the wedding so we figured it would give us some time to call the people who couldn't be bothered to send the card back.

our wedding is july 14, we have to give our final headcount on july 1st... so we made our RSVP june 1st -- hth

you want to make it at least 2 weeks before your caterer requires a final headcount..... that way, you can track down the stragglers in time. That usually ends up being a month prior to the big day....

about a month....... wedding date 8/11, RSVP date 7/1 (i think)
