OK so my RSVP is this Wednesday and I am still missing about half of the responses. I am dreading not getting all of them back because people are too lazy to literally just check 'accepts' or 'regrets' and pop it in the mail (it's stamped and has the return address on it already). I really don't want to be bothered hunting people down and I really wanted to do my place cards and seating charts asap, hence the RSVP date.
What have you girls done when you didn't get yours back, or what do you plan on doing if you don't? HELP!

I was missing a lot of responses from my fiancés parents friends. I told his parents they had to call them and if I don’t hear back by a certain date, I assume it’s a no.

our rsvp date is only 3 weeks before our wedding, so we HAVE to have our answer on our RSVP date (which is 8/3)
as of now we're missing about half...

I'm getting nervous about the same thing. My RSVP date is 8/18 and we are missing about half as well. If I don't get responses then the parents will have to start reaching out to any friends or family on either side and I'll start harassing those I can get in touch with.
The whole RSVP thing with people irritates me. If you know you're coming WHY do you have to wait until the last minute to respond. People should know its stressful enough on a couple to plan a wedding let alone wait til the last minute to respond. It's just inconsiderate to me.

We just had to call/text/email people. You could start now with gentle reminders that the RSVP deadline is this upcoming week.

Our RSVP is also 8/1 and we are waiting for about a dozen people so we are going to wait until next week and start calling people to see if they are coming

Same! We waited about a week after our RSVP date and then we started calling, emailing, texting the people who didn't respond (and yes it was close to 50 people). Some people just don't understand how rude it is to just not respond! We just said something like 'we haven't received your response yet and we are getting ready to give our final count' most people apologized and told us right then and there if they were in or out.... hopefully people will learn once their own wedding comes around how stressful it can be and won't reply late anymore :)

I think most late guests mail them out on your RSVP date. I got a large influx of responses in the week following my RSVP date. If you don't receive them about a week or so later, then start calling or emailing. We had 2 guests who actually didn't receive the invite.

right now i have a little more than half back and my RSVP date is the 13th. I'm hoping that doesn't happen but i've been getting less and less everyday. I agree with what Rivera2be said. Wait until a week after then start calling.

My RSVP is the 19th and I've gotten less than half back. Whats more annoying is that some people don't even write their name on the card! Luckily, they happened to be the few who put a return address on the envelope.

i followed up with people we didnt hear from, you dont want anyone just showing up! which they will do! some people just dont think its that important to rsvp or assume you know they will be there

I am with you sister. MY RSVP date is today also and I only have about half in. we are going to wait until next week to start making calls. I just don't understand people who don't do things on time in general. I hate having something hang over my head, or even worse make people wait for me.
