RSVP by email?

My wedding is a little more casual than a catering hall reception- on the beach under a tent. I was thinking of putting an email address to RSVP to rather than have the response cards. Is that tacky?

Your older guests will need the response card unless everyone is tech savvy

I thought of that-the only person without email is my FMIL and it's safe to say she'll be there :)

My best friend just did this since she's having a casual wedding. I thought it was fine. You can just included a phone number for older guests. People who are obnoxious with etiquette may turn up their nose but it's definitely a cheaper way to do it. Another way to do it if you want a cheaper/easier option besides the traditional response cards with envelopes is to use an invite that includes a tear off postcard response. No need to stuff another thing into your invites and you can buy postcard stamps instead of a full 49 cent stamp. I thought that was pretty ingenious!

I thought about this too and discussed it with my mom and she told me to stop being cheap.. I think it's a great idea and eco- friendly. I'm still on the fence about this.
