From my experience - If you INVITE people to the ceremony they are INVITED to the reception. If you were getting married at a church or temple then anyone who wanted to attend would get the information word of mouth - not invite - and watch you at the church/temple/whatever. I personally dont think it would be cool to invite people to just the ceremony and not the reception. Just my opinion. good luck- maybe other girls have a different opinion.
