What does everyone think about, instead of having RSVP cards that people have to mail back, having a website address on the invation along with a phone number for those few people that don't have a computer? I think it would save money and time..?
having an rsvp website does sound like a good idea in theory, but im not so sure if it would work out too well. Some people might have a computer but could be computer illiterate. You might end up with as many phone calls as invitations sent out...

Re: RSVP CARDS
A wedding is a formal event, and should have a formal response.
Websites & phone call RSVPs are for parties.

people are inherently lazy w/ rsvp's and i think that the e-rsvp would invite extra laziness...

I agree. I am currently in the process of receiving my RSVPs (the due date was yesterday) and I have only received 53%!
People who don't feel like sending them are calling my mom saying they are coming, but then they call her back 2 days later to change the number of people who are coming. I told her to ask them to please send the RSVP cards back so I can have a definite number.
From this experience, I think it will cause you more stress for people to call in their response because they feel it isn't written in stone so they can always call you back and change it. Once they send the card back, it's pretty much finalized.

Re: RSVP CARDS
I had both physical RSVP cards for them to send in, and a website that had online RSVP capabilities.
End result:
Almost all of the people used the physical cards.
I'm still happy I have the website RSVPs - that's what I ended up using to keep track of *all* of the RSVPs, but if I were you, I'd still do the physical ones. Surprisingly, I think that most people, no matter how internet savvy, are more likely to toss the card in mail than go to the website or make a phone call.
