So far all of our guests have followed directions, but we numbered the back of each card too (in ink, but very small) and it corresponds to our master list. Hopefully we won't need it though!

you can order invisible ink pens on the internet. i did not think it would be difficult to get one at the last minute, but it was and there wasn't enough time to order one on the internet. beware - none of these store sell them: michael, ac moore, staples, office depot, party city
i ended up buying a spy kit at toys r us that included a 'secret decoder pen'. it has a black light on one end to see what you wrote.
this way if anyone turns over the card, they can't see their number. when we got them back (still waiting for a few and the rsvp date was dec 12 - ugh, the nerve of some people!), we wrote the number with pencil on the back so we wouldn't have to keep using the black light.
numbering the cards has been a life-saver in terms of just being organized. we only had one person not write their name...except for my brothers who i think were trying to be funny. one of my brothers actually put a number on a corner to try and confuse me! too bad he put it in the wrong corner!
