Sorry im not a march bride but I didnt almost exactly 6 weeks.. Wedding is Feb 20 and I think I put Jan 16th

I have hear that 6-8 weeks before so 6 should be fine.

6 weeks is perfect. That is what I did for mine. No matter how far in advance you do the date you will still have people who do not send back their RSVP's.

is 8 weeks too long? I want it AS soon before as possible ( Im slow with things, seating arrangements, place cards..UGH, I need months for that!)

I think having an earlier date is better. You are going to have the pain in the azzes that are late. So the more time you have to hunt them down the better
