RSVP - Date on invites

Hi girls, what is the proper etiquette of when to rsvp by. I am looking to order my invites and I want to make sure of the rsvp date.

edited because i typed too quickly, had the dates backwards

keep in mind that if you mail out too soon, your guests will forget to RSVP all together. and outside of NY most people only mail 6 weeks before the date of the wedding

usually rsvp should at least 6weeks to 8 week before your wedding date........it gives you time to call people who didnt respond back or inform people who simply didnt return the rsvp back to you!

I'd say RSVP date should be 3-5 weeks before your wedding date. We did exactly one month before, which seems to be pretty common. I'd recommend doing 4-5 weeks before to leave time to chase stragglers.

You should mail out your invites 1-2 months before your response date. we mailed out on the early side (3 months before our wedding, 2 months before our rsvp date) because we were having a sunday wedding during the summer with lots of OOTers so we wanted to give people a little more time, even though we sent our STDs.

ok..cool. FH is set on having the rsvp's in early, so i think ill do 5-6 weeks ahead...

our date is 11/29
we are mailing them week of 9/22
RSVP date is 11/1

I had mine about a week before my final head count was due, gives me time to call anyone who did not RSVP.

Which is about 3 weeks before the wedding.

Wedding date - October 4th
Invites sent - last week of July and first week fo August (we sent them in 3 installments)
RSVP date - September 8th (TODAY)!

You should also consider whether you are having A and B lists (so the A list would need to go out a bit earlier so you have time to get no's and to get the B list out) and also when your RH needs a headcount.

We have a very small B list, that we will be able to send out once my elderly relatives 'officially' confirm they are not coming, so effectively we only have one mailing. Our caterer needs the headcount about 10 days before the wedding so we are asking for an RSVP about 20 days before the wedding (then again, our wedding is small and we already more or less know the responses of 95% of our guests because we talk to them all the time).
