RSVP Etiquette?!?

RSVP Etiquette?!?

Should someone respond to an invitiation if they are attending a party or even if they aren't attending a party???

FMIL (along with FH's siblings) obviously deemed it necessary to not RSVP to our e-party. She lives in FL and we kinda assumed she wouldn't come all the way to LI for it...but she could have at least acknowledged she received the invitation and responded to it...right? I am SHOCKED at the amount of OOT family that is coming all the way to LI just for the e-party as it is.

Am I upset over this for nothing? I'm not sure if theres proper etiquette with RSVP's but I know that I personally respond whether I am going or not

Considering its your FMIL and FB/FS ILs...did they maybe casually mention anything to your FH? Whether it be over the phone, via email, etc? Maybe they said something to him in passing and assumed it qualified as an RSVP? Does your FH talk to his mother frequently?

My FMIL did not bother to respond either... she lives in Kansas so i knew she wouldnt come -but i made sure to send her an invitation anyway and EXPECTED a response.... nothing!
I know how you feel!

ugh we had the same problem to the eparty. the rsvp was to my parents or an email-how simple was that. they couldn't even type an email???
fhs own immediate family didn't even want to rsvp. He had to tell them that was the right thing to do and not to assume that they were coming.
cant wait till the wedding.

I can't STAND when people don't bother to rsvp b/c 'you know we're coming/ not coming!'

There's actually an article on the main page of liweddings about this right now

No they don't talk often. She definitely didn't casually mention it

you can never assume that people know what to do when it comes to these things. I'm worried about this happening at the wedding...

People are rude. My entire side of the family didn't even ACKNOWLEDGE receiving my e-party invites!! All they had to do was send me a Facebook message or something. So rude. I can't wait until my wedding is over so I never have to speak to them ever again...

I don't know about etiquette but I think it's common courtesy to let your or FH know if they are coming.
