Is it tacky to put 'We have reserved X seats for you' on the RSVP card. We are on a limited budget and I don't want to have to make those akward phone calls to tell them that they can't bring everyone and their grandma to our wedding? Let me know what you ladies think.

Re: RSVP Help
I think in retrospect I wish I did that. You can write
___/5 are attending OR ____ out of 5 are attending
(but on your RSVP it'll look like ____ out of ____ will be attending - and you fill in the second blank)
(the 5 is just an example). You leave the first part blank and they fill it in themselves and then they'll also know they only have 5 seats...

I have seen these on RSVPs and think it's a good idea if you have difficult guests. We have some very dfficult guests but decided not to do this since our guests have no problem crossing out our '5' and putting in '7' or something. So it wouldn't have worked for us anyway.

Re: RSVP Help
I did it...It definitely helped since some people don't realize that only the persons listed on the invite ARE INVITED ...if you know some of your guest may invite the whole family and their church..do it

Re: RSVP Help
The names on the inside envelope are supposed to be the only people invited, but parents don't think that matters, and some people don't even bother to notice that, so I'd go with the ____ of ____ idea, that should work, at least with most people!!

Thanks for this info. In the notebook it goes.

Re: RSVP Help
granted I'm still waiting on 53 responses but so far we've gotten over 160 and not one person has added an extra guest, all we wrote was

Re: RSVP Help
Funny story, kind of! I sent an invitation to my dad's cousin who is famous for bringing his son everywhere. Since we were not inviting 2nd, 3rd, 4th, so on cousins, I had to make it very clear that the invitation was for him and his wife only. So I addressed it Mr & Mrs. 'SoandSo'. and on the inside I wrote only their first names. Lets say, 'Bob and Mary' I knew it was informal, but I felt it left less room for confusion. I got the RSVP back and it said, Mr. 'Soandso' and family will attend. Number attending 3! What! Wait, it gets better! My step-mom called and said, I am so sorry, but your son was not inviting. We had to make the cut somewhere and we are very sorry. He said that the invitation was really not clear so they thought it was for the family. Did it say and family??? Ok, whatever! I will give them a break, BUT... I then get his brother's (my dad's other cousins) RSVP back yesterday and it says, Number attending 1. 'I will be attending with my brother, his wife and his son. WHAT!!!! So, the bottom line is... I think the son is still coming! This should be fun! Thank you so listening!

Re: RSVP Help
Thank You! I have been thinking how to write how many people are invited. I think that is a nice way to do it and not tacky
