So Today I get cornered by one of my aunts when I went to visit and asked if my cousin can bring her son b/c she has no sitter. (This is the cousin that gave me two towels as an e-gift) I reluctantly said ok but left there feeling uneasy. Well, I called my mom and sis and they told me they asked them last night the same thing and they basically told my aunt 'no'. (so why ask me again?)
I have too many friends/family with children and it would not be fair to only let one cousin bring hers. When I told the rest of them 'no'. So now I have to take back my 'ok' and still feel uneasy.

Re: RSVP - mini drama
i understand why she would ask you after asking your mom and sis... because you have the final say... its 2 months away there is plenty of time for her to get a sitter...
i would talk to the cousin not her mother... since you already said yes... tell her if at the last minute she cant get a sitter than fine... or tell her you'll help her get a sitter if she needs it...

Ugh~I really hate when people put us in these awkward situations. I would just call her and say you were thinking about it and your cousins son can’t come after all because it wouldn’t be fair to the other guests with children. I would also say that you said ok earlier because you felt awkward saying no to her (of course, all of this is said in a nice, calm way). And I would also say- didn’t my mom already tell you no?

Re: RSVP - mini drama
I had someone from out of town (a relative) RSVP she would be bringing her 13 year old daughter instead of her husband. The invite was to Mr and Mrs. They did not even ask if it was ok- I am not making a big deal out of it, but I really think one should ask- we are not having any kids at the reception- not on purpose- just works out that way with the ages of cousins, but what if it was an Adults only reception?? I'm sure some people will wonder why her child was invited and theirs wasnt, but I am not gonna let it stress me out.

Re: RSVP - mini drama
I already told my mom and grandma. My mom called my aunt. You're right...she should have called me directly, it's not like she does'nt have or cant get my number. But that is how my family works...the kids ask the parents to ask for them and it becomes this giant game of telephone. There are other reasons behind not wanting her to bring her son. He is a little rowdy due to something wrong, idk exactly, they keep it a secret. I just know how he can get. Anyway I'm just really stressed that the guest list keeps growing...

Absolutely ... I am not looking forward to the questioning either but the answer is 'no.' You can explain it affects your side of the family as much as it affects your future hubbys. Blame it on the venue! We can have over X amount of kids lol It isnt a good feeling though I know. I posted about the same thing a week or so ago! Its expensive people!
