RSVP nonsense

RSVP nonsense

Just had to vent, like every other bride who has dealt with RSVPs... so with 6 days to go til our RSVP deadline, we haven't received any RSVPs for at least 3 weeks (with the exception of my MOH who decided to send back her RSVP with stickers on it, haha).

Did I stamp them all? Yes.

Were the envelopes self-addressed? Yes.

Have we even called/emailed certain friends to ask them outright if they were coming? Yes. Did they bother to give an answer? No.

Right now we are at 63 people, and we have a minimum of 75. We still have some last minute people we can invite that won't be offended at a late invite (FH's lawyer, for example, or we can let our single friends know that they can bring a guest if they want).

I'm sorry you're going through this! I don't know why, but some people won't send in their RSVP UNTIL the deadline. Why wait if you know whether or not you're attending?!?!

It's like on evite. No one wants to be first person to RSVP. They wait for someone else and then they do. So dumb.

What is so hard for people to RSVP? I always RSVP on time when I get invited to wedding
I would call them just in case at last they decided to attend before you invite any other guests.

What the heck is wrong with people?! I mean really! You stamped and addressed the envelopes for Pete's Sake. There is really nooooo excuse. Your anger is VERY much justified. I am Pissed for you!

This issue is one of the many nightmares I hve contemplated. Others on the list include: Invited guests RSVP'ing for random uninvited ppl AND people showing up late ( I am getting married at 11:30am! ) and me walking down the aisle to empty chairs!

People really ought to get their acts together!

Just try not to freak. Have your BP start making those tough calls. It is unfortunate that adults cant find the 2 seconds it takes to respond. You do have some time left, so perhaps the mailman will come bearing RSVPS!

Oh trust me I completely understand what you are going through. RSVPs are HELL

I hated every second of it. and more than half our guests declined. How many did you invite? I think you will make it to 75. You are only 12 people away! I think it will work out!

Our parents already called the family members so we have answers from them. A lot of this is our friends, and since we at least email them regularly, of course we asked after the invites had been out for a few weeks. (To give props to MY friends, they have ALL RSVP'ed already!). One of FH's female friends told him that she was waiting to see if her husband was going to make other plans that weekend -- ahem, our wedding should be your plans that wekend! Our wedding is not on V-day, it is 2 days later, so you can still have a romantic dinner and we won't even be getting in your way! My wedding should not be your back-up plan (especially since you got married last year and you KNOW the planning involved).

RSVP Hell is awful. I was there and it doesn't get any better. I had someone send a reply the day before our wedding. Its not hard all they have to do is check a box and put it in their mailbox. I had to call over 45 guests. There isn't anything you can do, just wait it out and than get on the phone.

Re: RSVP nonsense

How hard is it to check of 'yes' or 'no' on an RSVP card and mail it in self addressed stamped envelope?? I always RSVP within two or three days of getting the invitation--who cares if you're first to send it in?? Don't people understand how much planning goes into a wedding? You NEED to know.

I would be half tempted to say, 'I'm going to give your seat up to somebody else!' in the instance of the FH friend. Umm, just say it forthright if you're coming or not--otherwise, your spot is going to somebody else!!! She, of all people, should understand what kind of planning goes into this!!!!

Re: RSVP nonsense

I would wait till this weekend and then start calling the ones that didn't respond. I know I was missing alot. And people always wait till the last min to send them back. I don't know why, cause they know if there coming or not and they should just send it back as soon as they get it.

Re: RSVP nonsense

Def pick up the phone and call them. If no answer, they are just either flaky or just one of those people that don't care. I know I will have this issue as well when my RSVP deadline rolls around.
