How far in advance should RSVP date be?

Most people say 1 month before the wedding.

My response date it 6 weeks before the wedding... The RH wants a final head count 3 weeks before so I figured I will start calling people I didn't get RSVPs for 1 week after the date... My wedding is 9/14 and my RSVP date is 8/1.. Some people say that its to early but I have to leave ample time to be able to call people if I have too.

Thanks ladies, I think 6 weeks sounds good because there are always people that you have to call. I just didn't know if there was an official etiquette rule to this!

We sent our out 10 weeks before the wedding on May 28th. We had an RSVP date of July 8th one month before the wedding. And we are STILL waiting on 6 people to RSVP (3 couples).

Ours is exactly one month before the wedding. I wouldn't give yourself less time then that but you can certainly give yourself more... you might need it to get the stragglers in check.

My wedding is October 4
Invites are going out late next week (around July 24)
RSVP date is Sept 8

We have a lot of out of towners so wanted to make sure they ahve enough time to make arrangements. Even though we sent save-the-dates, a lot of people don't make arrangements until they get the invite.
