I never thought this would happen to me. When i read about other girls having this RSVP issue i thought, nah, none of my friends are gonna do that. But boy was I wrong!!
I invited a friend of mine and she RSVP'ed -Her plus one (her bf).
Well she never made it to my shower, ok no biggy, she's not coming to my bachelorette party, okay fine. And then i get an email saying that her boyfriend has something to go to the day of my wedding. (which mind you i was told by another friend that he's going to a football game) and she is still coming but there is a problem - her foot is going to be in a bandage (having some minor surgery) so she may not be able to drive there. Would you I mind if she still brought someone? She was going to bring her friend Barbara .... that way Barbara could drive her and stuff and i wouldnt have to rearrange tables, etc. and was that cool?
Like really?! who the hell is Barbara? This isn't some backyard bbq that i decided to have one sunday afternoon! it's my wedding! UGH Long story short, i told politely told her the wedding was just for friends and family and i would love to see her at my big day but if she couldn't id understand. I got an email back, she's not coming.
Some friend lol!

Having being on crutches with an injury I know personally how hard it is to get around w/o assistance
How would you expect her to get to your wedding otherwise? I couldn't imagine driving and getting up stairs or around without help in that situation...
I agree the boyfriend thing is rude (esp if he is cancelling due to a FOOTBALL game?!?!
but in her condition I would imagine she would need some help.

I have to say that I totally agree! It's not like she wants to bring someone else. She has no way of getting there. Plus, you invited her plus one. I know it's our wedding day, but I don't think we have the right to dictate who she brings as her plus one (provided it's not a kid to an Adult Only affair). How did you expect her to get there? And while it is annoying that her bf would rather go to a football game than go to your wedding, how do you think that makes her feel? I'm sure she's not thrilled about that, but that's her relationship. JMO, but I think it may have been a little too much to tell her she couldn't bring her friend especially when she can't take herself.

Honestly.... and I do feel your pain with the RSVP's and people inviting people that you have no clue who they are but in this case I would have allowed my friend to bring someone other then her boyfriend because that was the only way she would be able to get there and get around at the wedding. It sounds to me that she really wanted to come and was trying to figure out how to be there for you on your big day. Also, the boyfriend not going to the wedding because he is going to a football game wouldn't have really bothered me. My FH didn't come with me to our friends Engagement Party because he went to see the Tigers (his fav team) play the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. He hardly ever gets to see his Detroit Teams play in person or on TV so there was no way I was going to make him go to the engagement party and our friend totally understood and encouraged him to go to the game.

Oh boy, some people really have big ones... I guess what they say is true, you find out who your real friends are when planning a wedding. So sorry you have to deal with this
