RSVP wording - UPDATE please see revision....

RSVP wording - UPDATE please see revision....

I've never been crazy about the
M_____________________
line - I think people get confused and don't know what to write on that line.

is it still formal enough to put
Name(s)____________________ ?

Also, I'm a little worried that some people might add extra guests on their rsvp card - because the same people did it to my sister for her wedding.

Do you think it's tacky to put a line like this
“___ of ___ guest(s) will attend”, and then pre-fill in the second blank with the number of people that are actually invited?
I saw this suggestion at about.com

Any suggestions/advice?

I agree that people get confused with the M__ line but I'm not sure about putting Names__

maybe something like:
Attendee(s)___

When will your invites be finished?

Re: RSVP wording

hmm.. I like 'attendee (s)'!

My invites are supposed to be going to the printer for the thermography by the end of next week. I hope to have them all by the 20th so I can send them out.

I would stick with the M___________. I don't know of any other way to word that.

Instead of having, # of guests attending ___

Just don't even put that. I just had:

___Accepts

___Regrets

And people just checked off if they were coming or not.

Thanks Ida! I can't wait to just get these invites done and out!

Re: RSVP wording

I did 'Name(s)________________' I never really cared for the 'M________' line myself (although it is the usual way that they're done.

I also did:

___Accepts with pleasure
___Number of persons (but I should have done Number attending- I followed the sample, and didn't think about it!!)
___Declines with regret

WHAT ABOUT THIS:

Response

The favour of your reply is requested before August 29th

Attendee(s)_____________________________________

____ will attend with pleasure
___ of ___ persons attending

____ will not attend with regrets

We have a lot of invitations going out to adults and their children so I want to be sure the children get included in the count.

Why is this so hard? Such a small stupid detail!!

I left the M__________. I figured since almost all invites have them, most people should know what it's for.

I also did this:

___Accepts with pleasure
___Number of persons attending
___Declines with regret

I did the M_______. No one got confused (even really old ppl).

People did write, and call my MOM about extra guests, and even have people take the 'place' of others.I don't know if there was any way around it. It came out to 4 extra people. It was more stress trying to prevent it than it was worth.

I also put
X of X (number we decided to invite) will be attending
as well. I know there are a few family members who would have thought it was OK to bring their entire extended family with them!

And for names I put:

Name(s) of guest(s) attending
________________________

And some people STILL didn't fill their names in! Good thing you ladies suggested numbering the cards!

Good luck with your invites!

Edited because I am having problems speaking properly today!!!

I agree. People will find a way to include uninvited individuals. You will probably need to call those people and correct them no matter what you do. So don't worry too much about it.

We are doing Name______________ instead of M________________ and we are having a very formal wedding. I don't think there is anything wrong with it.
