rsvp'ing to a wedding

I see the girls that are posting their guests rsvp status above thier pictures as headlines. Some people have like 50-60 people that declined. Not only is this discouraging but it makes me wonder, what better things do these people have to do that day that they can't come to our weddings? Obviously out-of-towners might not be able to make the trip, but what is everybody else's excuse? I just don't get it.

Some of my no's were my mothers or MILs friends....so no loss to me.

People have the most interesting excuses ever. You would be surprised.

I invited 152 people and I only had 25 'no's'. Actually, not one of those was an out of towner (and we had a lot, probably 2/3rds)

Anyway, you can't get upset if people have prior engagments, my boss (who is a friend) was away on vacation and she knew about my wedding first, but I am not going to make her change her vacation plans! Our weddings are very important days in our lives and the lives of people who we care about, but sometimes things are on the same date.

Yep. I agree. We had almost 50% say no.

Honestly I think it depends on how well you know some of these ppl.

I invited 127 and 112 showed up because I invited only very close friends and family.

I think the bigger your wedding gets the more chance there will be of 'no's' because you can't possibly know all these people very well...

The few people who said 'no' are those who I don't know too well yet but didn't feel right not inviting. One gave me the excuse that she has to attend her BF's sister's shower.'

Um, hello, I gave you the invite before the shower was planned?

You get the drift. :P No big loss since I was over my minimum of 100 anyway.

i think that some people just dont like to go to weddings.

a few others had vacation plans.

a few said no cause my parents said no to there kids weddings.

it is all relative.

Kid's birthdays, mother's 80th birthday, another wedding, their own birthday, their own anniversary...only 1 person had a DUMB reason: she didn't have a date.

Re: rsvp'ing to a wedding

I'm getting a little nervous about my rsvps!!! and I'm not even close to my wedding!!

When we get married we will have been engaged for a little over 2 years so I'm hoping everyone we want there will be there, but I know that I have to expect some no's since it's around the holiday time.

We have some people we are hoping say no-people we rarely talk to, parents friends-a few, a few co-workers, etc...

I'm going to have a lot of baby-having as excuses for my family members not coming. My cousin and my FSIL are both due around the wedding next year.
