some people did not indicate they are bringing a guest, should I assume they are not bringing someone?
if they don't write someone's name should I just write guest on the escort placecard?
If they haven't responded at all, should I preface with I understand you may be busy?? or I'm just wondering?...
thanks ladies! It's getting to be that time when other people are controlling too much

Re: RSVPs.. how to address questions when calling
I think it's perfectly fine to call someone up and say,
'Hi _________! I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss your RSVP card in the mail. Will you be able to attend our wedding or do you have a prior committment? I'll need to give the final head count this week...'
Something like that should work. As far as people not indicating a guest, I would think most people would have enough sense to write the guest's name in, so if it's not there, I would fill out just the one name on the escort card.
Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Re: RSVPs.. how to address questions when calling
I know it's awkward, but really if anyone should feel uncomfortable it is the person who did not have the courtesy to RSVP, not you.
I would just simply say 'I am going over my guest list for the wedding and I need to know whether or not you're able to make it bc my final headcount is due'.
ETA: As far as a guest, if there is a question as to whether or not one may be bringing one, I'd call to verify. You want to make sure your final # matches your seating plan, etc. If you don't know a guest's name, it is perfectly ok to write 'and guest'.

Re: RSVPs.. how to address questions when calling
i had a friend rsvp without writing guest, and i asked him about it and he meant to write with guest, i have other people that didn't write guest and i'm just assuming.. i'm basing it on each person. i don't know what i'm gonna do when i have people that haven't rsvp'd yet.. i know it's gonna happen, i'm getting less and less rsvps each day and i only have half so far.

I would definitely verify whether or not they are bringing a guest. Some people might assume that since they were invited with guest, you'll assume they're bringing one, etc. I had a party recently and several people showed up with guests who did not RSVP that way.

Don't know if this is traditional I am wording my invites to state how many seats are reserved for that particular party. This way there should be no confusion on who I have or have not invited.
I don't think there is anything wrong with asking in the phone call.Never heard about the invite police coming after anyone either
State that you must give your RH a final head count and they should understand HTH
