I didn't have time to number my rsvps cards and match them to my list and now I am afraid people will forget to write their names and I won't know who it came from - any other brides have this issue - does it happen often that they don't write their names?

I had 2 come back w/ no name (I still dont get how someone can do that!) but I was able to figure it out by looking at the zip code on the envelope.

well thanks ladies - I just wonder how common it is - weird that a person would not sign it.

Re: RSVPS With NO Name
I didnt have any missing names on the RSVP's...just missing RSVP's...but my feeling is that if your to lazy to RSVP then Im to lazy to call and see if you are coming...if you show up and there is no place for you to sit then everone will know its because you were to lazy to fill out a card and put it in the mailbox.

that is great i love it and imagined a spolight on the person and an anouncement being made - 'attention guests this individual was too lazy to rsvp and is now causing a comotion - we will have to stop and wait for him to squeeze in someowhere'
What is really bad is that my fiance and I were invited to his cousins wedding and he lost the rsvp after I had been telling him to put it in the mail - he kept telling me there was no need that he had told his father to tell his aunt to tell his cousin that he was coming -
well guess what? we showed up and there was no seat for us - really really terrible!

I realize that is the case most of the time, as it was with 98% of my missing RSVPs but this happened to me once and I never got the invitation in the first place. I was SO upset when I found out because they never called me to ask why I didn't respond, and I wasn't about to assume I was invited so I didn't call them to ask, but my friend was very mad at me and it totally wasn't my fault. With my own wedding, there were 2 people who never received their invitations, so I'm glad I called.
To answer the original question, I did number my response cards but it didn't matter because everyone remembered to write their name.

I actually know these people received the invites because they commented to my mother on how pretty the were....otherwise I would have called.

Re: RSVPS With NO Name
Luckily and hopefully your guests are smarter than mine because we received about 5, yes 5! RSVP's with no names. Numbering REALLY helps!
Future brides, take note...a small handwritten number in pencil on the back corner of the actual card (some people do the envelope, but my feeling is that the envelope may get torn or lost and you normally file just the card) corresponding to a number for that person on your address list (whatever list you use to print names, have calligraphy done, use that list!) that way you know who has responded and who hasn't...and their names!
I also numbered the table cameras and am so glad I did because I know 2 tables took their cameras with them and I plan on askig them for the pictures.

Re: RSVPS With NO Name
We numbered ours because people warned me that inevitably someone would leave their name off.....so far so good....everyone has filled in their name!

Re: RSVPS With NO Name
we didn't have that problem at all. the only mix up we had was fh's cousins (both of his uncles named their boy's neal, so we had two with the same name) -but we figured out which one was which!

Re: RSVPS With NO Name
I numbered, and I haven't had a missing name I have had unreadable ones and ones with only the last name.
Duh I know more than one Goldberg!
It only took about an hour to number then with a pencil.

Re: RSVPS With NO Name
I didn't number mine and so far everyone has put their name on it. I can't believe people would actually do that, watch today will be my first no name!

Re: RSVPS With NO Name
YES, we did get some back with no names on them and we numbered them so we knew who it was. You may just have to wait until after the RSVP date to call people and then figure out who the mystery RSVP is from.
