Ok...so I have a little bit of a dilemma. I love my reception hall more than words could possibly describe, but I've got a Little bit of a problem with the banquet manager that we originally booked with. He's a bit arrogant and a little rude. I noticed when we went and saw the hall for the first time, he barely acknowledged me, and really just seamed to brush me off , but seemed more than happy to talk to my fiancé and answer his questions. The day we booked, My fiancée and I were asking a lot of questions about the menu and the food, bc we think the food is a very important part of the reception. His comment to us was 'I can tell you guys are real 'foodies'. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN??? I literally almost cried, the two of us Have struggled to loose weight, and that hit me pretty hard. My future mother in law was there and even she admitted that was just not right. I got over that because I just love the place sooo much and I kept telling myself that I was overreacting and it was probably my imagination. Well, that was in march of last year that we booked and i had seen him last. I went back just about 2 weeks ago because I had a few questions and I don't really know what to expect or what I should be doing if anything at this point since the wedding is about 9 months away. He was back to his same tricks again. He has no problem talking to my fiancée, but when I say something, he has this way of responding to me that just makes me feel stupid that I even asked the question. I was so excited to go and have an appointment to discuss my wedding and what I should expect the next few months, and he made me feel like I was stupid for coming in at this point of the game, and I was wasting his time bc it was too early. I can't deal with it anymore. Do you guys think I could address another banquet manager with any of my questions for now on, or am I tied to this jerk? Im not looking to get him in trouble, but i really don't want to talk to him anymore. Anyone else ever encounter this problem?

RUDE Banquet Manager!!!
I would see if you could talk to someone else. If my BM didn't acknowledge me, they would be in for an earful lol. Foodies are people that are really into food - it definitely wasn't a comment about weight or anything so don't worry.

I actually walked out of 2 RHs because of the way the BMs acted toward us. I also wrote letters to the companies about these BMs. I am not one to write letters or complain, but I think that for a couple who is spending as much money as a wedding costs, the BM better roll out the red carpet for us!!
Try talking to someone else, and also see if there is a director or manager or someone who you can lodge a complaint to. They may offer you a different BM just based on your complaint.
I'm sorry you're going through this.

You should definitely try to speak with someone else. With the amount of money you are investing in your wedding, he should be catering to your every need! No one should ever think it is okay to treat others like that. I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. I hope they are able to accommodate this request.
Also - a foodie is a positive term if that makes you feel any better. It just means that you value high quality food and ingredients - I am a self-proclaimed foodie myself!!

RUDE Banquet Manager!!!
We had the worst experience with two banquet managers at separate venues. We walked out with such a bad taste in our mouths and didn't even think twice about NOT booking with them as beautiful as each venue was. When we met with our BM, we loved his personality and the amount of patience he had! I totally know how you feel about that comment, I also struggle with my weight and am easily offended by these comments! Try to go to a higher up about it.

i would definitely tell them i demand to work with someone else and what venue / BM would be stupid enough to not cater to the BRIDE and more than that, to be RUDE TO HER!!!

You go girl! I wish I would've done that at one place that I went too...the BM seemed to completely ignore me and focused on my fiance. He lost a sale right then and there because of that...
In regards to the thread...I would try and speak to someone else, remember you're paying him!! He should not be acting the way that he is, let your Bridezilla flag fly if you need to!Good luck and I am sorry you're going through this!

Oh my goodness!!!
This sounds like (2) BM my FH and I met with when we went venue hopping. Why do I have a funny feeling I know which venue this is. LOL
First off YOU'RE THE BRIDE!!! So if anything, the BM should be speaking with you more than your FH because Brides are more attention to detail than the Groom. Secondly, Change him asap! I've done that before when I was planning my family reunion and since the guy was giving me attitude when I kept asking questions regarding our banquet dinner, I didn't sweat the small stuff and just requested a new BM and all went well!
Trust your instincts. My fear is what happens the day of the wedding and this BM gives you the cold shoulder then? Who wants to feel terrible on their wedding day!

Thank you ladies :) I'm taking your advise...I'm just going to tell another bm that I'm not comfortable with him. It's not right that I'm spending all this money and I have to feel this way. I will let just a little bit of my inner bridezilla make an appearance ;) just a little!

I walked out of more than one RH because of the BM, if you love the place there is no reason you should have to deal with a jerk. I'd speak with a manager and ask to switch BMs I'm sure they will be more than happy to do so they don't want a bad reputation. Sorry your dealing with this. Good luck!

Most venues want you to be happy, and if the BM isn't making you feel as if you're important, someone else will want you to feel better. Good luck!!

I would definitely talk to someone else and I would also find out who he answers to and make a complaint about him. For the amount of money you are paying the venue, he should be treating you a LOT better. But hey, It'll be funny when he opens his tip envelope from you the night of your wedding LOL

I would definitely ask for a different person to deal with!! You're spending a ton of money on your wedding, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to ask any questions you want even if they are pointless!!! You need someone that's going to be supportive and make you feel confident in the fact that everything will go smoothly, if you don't feel that way now he's probably not going to provide you with that feeling the night of your wedding!
