rude friend rant

rude friend rant

So I have a friend from college who I used to talk to a lot about the wedding. Not long after- he got engaged! He never went into much detail about his wedding though. They are getting married a month after me. If we ever spoke about weddings it was because I brought it up- which I thought was weird considering he is getting married around the same time!

Anyway when it came time to talk about invites, he told me he is inviting like 300 but explained that there are people he wants to invite but can't... and I'm thinking it was some kind of hint he wasn't going to invite me but I'm thinking of 300 people....... .I should rank somewhere on that list! That's A LOT of people! I don't think that's the size wedding where u say, 'we can't invite everyone we want to'

So I haven't spoken to him in almost 2 months and I just got his RSVP back in the mail. He checked off 'regrets' and wrote his and his fiance's name. No note or anything about being sorry to not make it...... nothing.

So, I'm guessing he doesn't want to invite me to his wedding for some reason and is there fore not coming to mine- but please- at least have the decency to write a little note saying congrats! Don't just check off the 'regrets' box like it's nothing!!!

UGHHH

Maybe he doesn't know how to go about it...

He probably feels awkward. I'd cut him some slack.

Try calling him and saying - I'm so sad you can't make it. If you can't invite me to your wedding, I hope it's not affecting your response.

Just tell him you're cool with it. People appreciate straightforward-ness.

thanks for the advice- I agree... but I can get pretty bitter about these types of things... know what I mean? I had it in my mind he probably wasn't going to come for that very reason- but at least include an explanation since he said on many occassions that he would come!

are you a scorpio? b/c I am and I used to get SO bitter about things.

Is he an asss in real life? Try to be cool about it, anger only does bad things to your body. Blood pressure goes up, muscles tense, etc.

Be a loosey goosey.

I just wanted to say loosey goosey. Sorry.

Maybe his fiance has a problem with you being invited since you were so close to him and he feels like if he isn't going to invite you then he shouldn't go to yours.

Just a theory

i would be disappointed as well, but i would just brush it off. u have much more important things to worry about. being that u 2 havent spoken in 2 months it seems like you arent really good good friends, so it wouldnt bother me that much. Now if u two are close, but maybe just lost touch for a bit then i'd be pretty p-o'd.

p.s. def dont call him, u dont want to make an awkward situation worse.

nah, not a scorpio.. just bitter for no apparent reason haha!

he really isn't an ***, from what I know he was always a really sweet guy! whatever, the friends who I really care about being there are all going to come and that's all that matters!

By the way- I just saw we are both using the same BM gowns!!!! Aren't they gorgeous?!?!

Well, I am making my sample CP and such next week. But, I am planning on using light purple, light pink, and ivory roses for the CPs- not sure how I will arrange the bouquets.

What are u using?

each BM will carry a diff color bouquet, similar to this but fuller:

A friend of mine used your colors - her wedding was gorgeous - soft and feminine and beautiful!!!

Can you email him? I would take the chicken way out but that is just me! PLUS it is sorta rude he didnt invite you! Buttt.....

I was just in a similar situation with one of my guy friends. He never mentioned I was invited so I just assumed I wasnt and maybe it was for the best (we dated for a brief month...years ago). Anyway I didnt invite him either and we just never really talked about it. We do talk about the weddings but that is it. Personally I wanted to invite him to mine....but I just didnt.

Hi - now I am hijacking your thread! Love this idea! My photographer took pictures of someone's wedding last summer or fall...and her bridesmaids all carried bo-k just like this!

I'm going to get beaten up for this, but...

If this was a female friend that pulled this, I'd be annoyed. But I feel like (most) guys have no idea what they're doing when it comes to etiquette. I don't think he meant to hurt you by not writing a note.

Re: rude friend rant

oh well, his loss at missing your wedding.

maybe for his, the parents have high-jacked the guest list with all their friends and family and don't want them to invite too many of their own friends.??

Re: rude friend rant

Thanks everyone- I'm not too sure what the story is behind the situation but thanks for letting me vent! I was just really surprised because we were friends for most of college and after him saying that he would come to my wedding it just came as a surprise.

To be honest though, all of the friends I care about seeing will be there so nothing else matters
