I don't know what to do about photos! If we do the pictures after the wedding, then we get that amazing moment where the first time we see each other is when I walk down the aisle. But...then everyone says we will have to miss the whole cocktail hour! Anyone managed to not see your groom until after the ceremony and still get to some of the cocktail hour? Is it possible??

Re: Ruin the moment?
this is an issue CONSTANTLY coming up on the boards.
we are seeing each other b4 the ceremony, so we can enjoy the entire day. you'll find many brides tell you that it did NOT ruin that magical moment. it might break with tradition...but if you want to do pics b4...go for it. just make sure you and FH are in agreement.
FH and i decided that we'd rather have a private revealing of the 1st time he sees me, capture that on film, and it will also calm our nerves that day!
ETA: i forgot to add that if sounds like you are like us, and may be marrying at the hall, and therfore don't have a 'gap'. we are marrying at 11:15--CH at noon.

Re: Ruin the moment?
it depends if you have time in between the ceremony and cocktail hour...our wedding is at 9:30 am, and our cocktail hour starts at 12:30, so we are going to our cocktail hour, and our photographer knows that we want it that way, so he needs to get all the pics done after we get to the hall and before the cocktail hour.

Re: Ruin the moment?
Yes, but I am dumb, b/c my ceremony(church) is at 2:30pm and my reception is at 7:30pm. So we have a big gap. But thi sis aproblem for many, some photographers capute the first time he sees you anyway and some brides say it calmed the both of them down for the CM??? Its your preference, I just imagined a church wedding and thats all I can do!

Re: Ruin the moment?
we are having our church ceremony at 2:30 and our cocktail hour does not begin until 7- so we are getting all of our pictures done in between that time.

Re: Ruin the moment?
I decided to take pictures before the ceremony. Many photographers will create that first moment of the two of you seeing each other for the first time, even though it won't be as you walk down the isle. I've seen the groom with his back turned and as you get out of the limosine and walk towards him he'll turn around and see you and you'll have that moment. I'm totally fine with that, and I think it will help my nerves to see my FH before the ceremony, and we can enjoy all that great food!
