I'm interested in getting into running - I think it will be good for weight loss and it will be a release. Any runners that can give me advice on how I should start?

Re: Running
I would recommend the couch to 5k running plan:
http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
It talks about some common reasons people give up on running and a plan to slowly work your way up to jogging 5k in a few weeks.
I think running is a great way to work out. Another piece of advice would be to get a good pair of running shoes. Good luck and keep us updated!

Re: Running
Thanks - I'll check out the website - let's just hope willpower and motivation kicks in!!
Make sure you push yourself through the first mile everyday. I find that once I hit the one mile mark the 'feel good' hormones kick in and I can run forever after that!

And listen to some kick-as* music!

Re: Running
I would suggest intervals
walk- jog- run
you wont be bored and it's easy to get started
walk for 2 minutes at 4.0 jog for 2 minutes at 5.0 run for 2 minites at 6.0
then repeat
when that gets easy for can adjust the incline on the treadmill
good luck!

I agree with the intervals. That is how I started.

Re: Running
When I first started I would push myself to at least do a mile. Anyone that's in relatively good shape and health should be able to get through that. Of course it won't be fast, but you need to push yourself. The best piece of advice I can give is push. If you start to feel uncomfortable work through it. Unless it REALLY hurts, then walk. And listen to good workout music.
